
Dear Parents and Carers,
You may be aware of several deaths in tragic circumstances within our local
community. Last week Forfar Academy released a similar message.
You, your family, and your children will have been affected by these very
sad events in our area. At these times, the best source of comfort is our family, friends, and
colleagues as they can provide the most effective support and help.
Many of us are going through the grieving process, we will do this in different ways and it’s
important that we support each other with understanding and compassion.
In these circumstances, people may react in different ways. This may include
wanting to talk about what has happened, becoming upset, wanting to be alone,
showing anger, a lack of concentration, sleeping and eating problems.
We are one of many groups currently being supported and guided by a specialist
teams from Angus Council to ensure that every player, coach, manager, and parent can access
specialist support workers via their teams coaching sessions over the summer and the
foreseeable future.

• Hillcrest Futures – Peer Support Service for Young People and Adults in Angus -
The peer worker service will provide timely access to information, advice,
guidance, tools, and other supports to help people to improve their mental
health and wellbeing. The 11-16 years of high school age service is available
to any young person who is registered within the GP practices and can be
accessed by emailing youngpeopleangus@hillcrestfutures.org.uk or calling
01307 460101. The 16+ service is available to anyone over sixteen who is
registered within the GP practices; it is aimed at people with less complex
mental health and well-being challenges and can be accessed by emailing
AngusMentalHealthPeerSupport@hillcrestfutures.org.uk or calling 01307 460101
• Angus Suicide Prevention Support Service – offer compassionate and non-judgmental support if
you’re living with thoughts of suicide if you have
attempted suicide, or if you feel you're reaching a point of emotional distress.
The service is also open to family members, carers, and friends.

• Angus Adults Bereaved by Suicide – Insight Counselling - this service can be
accessed by individuals aged 18 and over who live in Angus and have been
affected by the loss of a loved one to suicide. Insight can also offer
bereavement support to children and young people, but this is not a specific

Children and young people experience the same sorts of feelings as adults when someone dies. But they may express them differently.
Winston’s Wish is a charity that helps children, teenagers, and young adults (up to the age of 25) find their feet when their worlds are turned upside down by grief.
